  1. Prepare To pressure cook
  2. Take 3/4 cup toor dal
  3. Get 1 pinch asafoetida

  7. Make ready 1 tbsp oil
  8. Make ready 1/2 tsp mustard seeds
  9. Take 1 tsp cumin seeds
  10. Take 1 onion chopped

  12. Get 4-5 curry leaves
  13. Get 1 red chilli
  14. Make ready 1 tomato chopped
  15. Make ready 1 tsp sambar powder
  16. Get Salt as required
  17. Get 1 cup Methi leaves (half of a bundle)
  18. Make ready Coriander leaves to garnish
Steps to make Methi dal:
  1. Pressure cook toor dal with other ingredients
  2. Heat a pan with oil. Temper with mustard seeds and cumin seeds. Add onion, garlic, red chilli and sauté until onion becomes soft. Add tomato and sauté until it becomes soft. Add sambar powder, salt and sauté until raw smell goes. Add methi leaves and sauté until it gets shrunken. Add toor dal. Let it boil for 5-10 mins.
  3. It’s ready to be served with rice, idli, dosa or roti.
