  1. In a heavy pan or kadai heat oil
  2. Once the oil is hot, add asofatida, 3-4 red chillies and urad dal and saute it.
  3. Add roasted split Bengal gram (roasted chana dal) and saute it.
  4. Now add garlic pod, and onions.
  5. Once the onions start changing colour add tomatoes.
  6. Cook it till it's soft and pulpy.
  7. Add salt, mix and turn off the flame.
  8. Once the mixture is cooled take it in the blender and grind it well. Add a little water if required.
  9. Take the grounded chutney in bowl. And prepare the tempering.
  10. For tempering, in a small kadai heat remaining oil, add mustard seeds and let it splutter
  11. Now add 2 dried red chillies and add a pinch of asofatida.
  12. Turn off the flame and Add the tempering to the prepared chutney.
  13. (can add more chillies or chillie powder as per your liking)
